Meet our 2025 Charity Partner - Riding for the Disabled

Donations are essential for us to continue our life changing work enriching lives through horses. We are delighted to be chosen as Harry Hall’s charity partner for 2025 and extend our thanks to everyone who voted for us.

Riding for the Disabled

RDA is a pioneer in the therapeutic use of horses, a leader in disability sport, and the only major UK charity to focus specifically on the health and wellbeing benefits of bringing people and horses together.

Over 400 RDA groups are located in urban and rural settings throughout the UK. Together they support disabled children and adults to take part in activities such as horse-care, riding, carriage-driving and vaulting, or just to spend quiet time with a pony. This is all made possible by our 13,700 volunteers, 1,700 qualified coaches, and 2,800 horses, bringing the joy of horses to over 25,000 people.

RDA demonstrates that horses have a unique role to play in addressing today’s societal challenges. Our work supports people facing some of the most significant challenges in society, providing opportunities to stay active, to improve physical mobility and strength, to boost mental wellbeing, to build confidence and to learn new skills.

With 24% of the UK population classified as disabled, we want as many people as possible to have the chance to connect with horses and enjoy these benefits.

Donations are essential for us to continue our life changing work enriching lives through horses and your vote for RDA to become Harry Hall’s next charity partner for 2025, will help us to secure vital funding.

An update from our charity partners

We are honoured to have been chosen as Harry Hall’s Charity Partner for 2025 – and even more delighted that it was your votes that made it happen, with a remarkable 57% of the vote. Since the partnership began, over £2,000 has already been raised to support the vital work of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).

Your support helps us do more than just run sessions — it helps shape futures. Take Katy Lake, a dedicated volunteer coach from Wyfold RDA, who recently received RDA’s Young Coach of the Year Award. Katy’s journey reflects what your support makes possible:

“I am beyond honoured to be awarded Young Coach of the Year 2025! RDA has become a huge part of my life over the last few years. Even while I’m away at university, I look forward to coming home and teaching. I feel my riders’ successes as if they are my own — it’s a pleasure to find ways to make them smile and help them achieve their goals.”

Katy’s passion and dedication help young riders like Mia, who was diagnosed with autism the same year she joined RDA. Through her sessions, Mia has developed courage, independence, and pride in her progress:

“It helped me understand myself more and pushed me to do things outside my comfort zone.”

Mia has also discovered confidence in new friendships and technical skills alike:

“Making friends when you have autism is difficult to say the least, but through RDA, I’ve met lifelong friends I will treasure forever… Nailing the canter on all the different horses I ride has been so rewarding.”

These are the real stories behind the donations. Every time someone shops with Harry Hall or joins the One Club, they’re helping us train coaches like Katy and empower young people like Mia — building confidence, connection, and community through the power of horses.

Beyond fundraising, this partnership has been instrumental in helping to raise awareness of our work, expanding our supporter base, and inspiring new volunteers to get involved.

At the National Equine Show, Harry Hall took part in an engaging treasure hunt trail that introduced visitors to our ponies and invited them to answer fun questions to win prizes. This activity helped share the joy and impact of RDA in a creative and memorable way.

Many of our RDA groups were delighted to receive bags of Stud Muffin treats kindly donated by Harry Hall — a thoughtful way to thank the ponies who play such a vital role in supporting our participants. One group was especially excited to receive a surprise package of brand-new bridles, rugs, headcollars, and silks — a generous and warmly welcomed gift that will be put to great use.

Adding to the excitement, Harry Hall extended a generous discount on products for RDA groups, which has been enthusiastically received and warmly appreciated by those dedicated to providing the best care for their equines.

Looking ahead to Q2, we’re excited to continue building momentum. Harry Hall will be attending several summer shows and events, proudly showing their support for RDA. We’re especially thrilled that they will be sponsoring the Best Turned Out class at the RDA National Championships, taking place from 11th to 13th July 2025. This competition represents months of dedication and training for our participants, and we’re so pleased that Harry Hall will be there to celebrate alongside us. The Championships will also feature our 50th anniversary celebrations for Carriage Driving — a true milestone.

We’re also looking forward to sharing more of the inspiring journeys made possible through RDA — stories that reflect the confidence, connection, and joy horses bring to people’s lives. These personal experiences are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re excited to shine a light on them with Harry Hall’s support.
