Harry Hall One Club Sponsors Historic First HOYS Ridden Veteran Championship

Anyone who has been lucky enough to own a veteran horse knows there is something special about them. The years may bring a few more grey hairs and a little extra care, but they also bring experience, character and a partnership that has often been built over decades.

That's why we're delighted to be supporting the Veteran Horse Society as partner of the 2026 Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) Ridden Veteran Championship.

Supporting Horses Aged 25 and Over

The Veteran Horse Society is dedicated to horses and ponies aged 25 years and over, celebrating the care and commitment that allows these much-loved horses to remain healthy, active and enjoying life well into their later years. Through its showing series and National Championships, the Society shines a light on veteran horses and the people who work so hard to keep them thriving.

This year feels particularly significant.

For the first time, Veteran Horse Society members have the opportunity to compete in a HOYS qualifier. For many owners and riders, it’s something they have hoped to see for a long time. The chance for veteran horses to earn their place at Horse of the Year Show marks an exciting new chapter for the veteran horse community.

The Road to HOYS Starts Here

The final qualifier for the HOYS Ridden Veteran Championship will take place at the Veteran Horse Society National Championships, held over three days at Arena UK in Lincolnshire. As the largest veteran equine event in the UK, the Championships attract competitors from across the country and feature the prestigious end-of-season Supreme Finals alongside the highly respected Veteran of the Year competition.

With the 2026 qualifying season now underway, many owners are already mapping out their route to HOYS and the opportunity to ride in the famous Arena of Dreams.

Supporting Horse Owners Every Day

At Harry Hall, supporting horse owners has always been at the heart of what we do. Through Harry Hall One Club, we help make horse ownership more affordable with membership perks, insurance products and shopping rewards designed around the realities of everyday equestrian life.

That focus sits naturally alongside the work of the Veteran Horse Society.

A Significant Moment for Veteran Horses

Julianne Aston, Founder of the Veteran Horse Society, said:

“We are delighted to be working alongside Harry Hall and look forward to developing a successful partnership for the Championships, the Society and our supporters, but above all for the veteran horses themselves.

The introduction of veteran qualifiers for HOYS has created tremendous excitement amongst our members and competitors. To see older horses recognised on this stage is a significant moment for the veteran horse community.”

Follow the Journey to HOYS

We’re proud to be part of that journey and look forward to seeing veteran horses and their riders take their place in the spotlight throughout the season ahead.
