Why we’re doing the 2026 Horse Census
We’re dedicated to making equestrian life more affordable, and our vision is to be your trusted companion for a lifetime outdoors.
Every two years, we run the Horse Census to capture the real, day-to-day picture of horse ownership in the UK. What’s going well, what’s getting harder, and how things are changing.
Your answers help build a clear picture of how the equestrian world is changing over time, and we use what you tell us to find practical ways to support owners and give back to our community.

In 2024, 3,343 horse owners and riders across the UK shared their experiences with us, and 8 in 10 told us that owning and caring for horses was getting harder.

This time, we want to hear how things have changed.
What we’re asking this time
Each census also looks at one part of horse ownership in more depth. This time, we’re exploring how life’s changes, good and bad, affect owners and their horses.
Life rarely stands still. It might bring a new job, a house move, an injury, a wet winter or a yard closing. But while life changes, being an equestrian doesn’t. That’s why we chose this focus.
By understanding what helps owners through change, we can share what works with the whole community and look at what more we can do at Harry Hall to help.
